This week, I decided to explore even deeper into the world of meditation. I looked into some Ted Talks, explaining mindfulness meditation and found this really good video where a man who went to a “mindfulness retreat” for several months, experienced a shift in attitude, outlook on life, motivation and self-expression.
This video inspired me to really think about my own life. He starts off by saying that although he seemed to have everything in life (support, education, money), there was still something missing. He realized that it was the brain and the way he was thinking about the world. This man explains how the brain struggles in staying in the present moment and tends to shift towards stress and negativity for most people.
He explains mindfulness meditation as “working out” the brain and giving it the strength it needs to lean towards a more positive outlook on our own lives.
With Thanksgiving just having passed, I decided to make a list of all the things that are positive in my life, and that I am grateful for. Whenever I am feeling stressed out during the day or feel myself leaning towards any negative emotions, I plan on taking a moment to reflect on these things which will push my brain in a new direction of positivity and motivation to rule the day!
I encourage anyone to try this if they are feeling the same way!
